RLabs Open Day 11 June 2022 - RLabs Women

Connecting with our Community

This past Saturday  11 June 2022, RLabs held its first Open Day in 3 years in Westridge, Mitchells Plain. The RLabs Women team was present and we had a blast!

For this Open Day the RLabs Women booth was centred around one of our projects called RLabs Beauty. Our table setting represented the colour-scheme and vibe of RLabs Beauty: light purple hues, with fairy lights, and pretty centrepieces. We wanted everyone who visited us on Open Day to feel relaxed, safe, and a little bit special. 

As our community in Westridge walked up to the RLabs Women table, we had the opportunity to let them know what we are all about and what we are trying to achieve with RLabs Beauty

RLabs Beauty is an online directory service providing local beauty solutions to female entrepreneurs with the opportunity to list their products or services. Our mission is to be a beauty directory that helps female entrepreneurs-on-the-go gain more customers and make more money in their busy and stressful lives.

We had a survey ready on our devices ready to collect research data directly from our community members. We wanted to know which beauty services and products they would like to see on the platform and to know a bit more about the beauty services they get done regularly in their own lives. This information will help us to revamp and improve the RLabs Beauty website. Everyone who shared their thoughts and opinions with us on the day received a small gift from RLabs Beauty as a way to say thanks for their time. These gift bags were beautifully put together by Keziah and Althea. We were very happy to see that people were more than happy to share their thoughts with us.

Just outside the hall, as guests walked in, we had set up a pop-up store hosted by Junk.fund. Arantxa and her team were brilliant on the day, encouraging people to purchase for themselves or their loved ones. By doing so they not only get a great deal on clothing and bags but they also help support women entrepreneurs in our programs which is where the funds will go to. Everything in the Junk.fund pop-up store was donated to us. You definitely don’t want to miss out on our next pop-up store so please watch our socials as we will announce the next one very soon!

The RLabs Women team would like to thank everyone for connecting with us on Open Day. It was amazing to see people in person and not just some boxes on a Zoom call as we have been doing for the last few years.
